Assistant Intelligence Officer
Hello, and thanks for your question.
In the Infantry, a Lance Corporal is a fire team commander (a fire team is half of a Section which is the basic formation of an Infantry Platoon) which means he leads a team of three soldiers.
In the field, he is in charge of the admin of the Section, making sure ammunition is distributed between the soldiers in the Section, his soldiers are eating properly and they are conducting basic admin in the field. They also work very closely with the Platoon Sergeant and with the other two Lance Corporals in the Platoon, they form the admin group of the Platoon.
In a Fire fight, he takes control of the Fire team and makes sure that Ammunition is balanced across the Section.
In camp, they are also in charge of admin, making sure all the soldiers are up on time, parading their Section and making sure everyone is where they are meant to be at the right time. They also help the Section Commander with any training that is being conducted.
An Infantry Lance Corporal is one of the hardest roles to undertake but it is quite rewarding and it is the first team to the ladder of promotion.
I hope this helps answer your question and if you have anymore, please ask.
-Daniel.
