Additional information

I want to join the army but I am not sure what exactly a HCA does. The description on the army website doesn't really offer much info so I was hoping you can provide as much as possible about the daily duties and such that a HCA does. Thank you

Hello, so the brief answer would be that a HCA is the right hand of the Nurse.

Day to day duty wise this varies widely depending on the care setting but generically; HCA's will monitor patients to ensure they do not deteriorate, this includes taking the physiological measurements (think blood pressure, heart rate etc), take bloods and insert a cannula or catheter if required, assist patients to maintain their hygiene if they need to, manage ward stock, communicate with a variety of professions and with families.

HCAs do tend to be quite busy in the hospital setting but it is one of the more rewarding jobs out there.

Hope this has helped.
