Additional information

I’m in Army Cadets and I have never used the black issued boot socks. I have only used my own boot socks. Can I do this in basic training or do I have to use the issued ones

Morning, thanks for your question. You will have to use only issued kit during your Basic Training but generally when your posted into the 'Field Army' you can use your own kit. Hopefully that answers your question, thanks.

Hi Archie,

Just to reassure you, the kit and equipment issued by the British Army is of the highest quality.

As Paul mentioned, you will be required to use issued kit during training, and this is for good reason - it is so the Army can assure you are using adequate kit which provides you with the appropriate protection and support. Your feet will very quickly get used to the issued socks and boots, and in fact there are several different types of issued military boots to make sure the fit is right for you.
