Additional information

Joining Royal Engineers, can hit the required 10:45 2km run time following an 800m warm-up, and no issues with strength test requirements. However my stamina isn't where I'd like it to be (burst after 800m warm-up & timed 2km practice run) & would be keen to find out what base level of fitness is expected when starting a consolidated 1 week phase 1A / 2 week phase 1B? Many Thanks, Patrick

Hi Patrick - If you can pass the standards required at selection you should have no problem in terms of the actual fitness training requirements. The selection standards are there as a base level, and if you can complete this then you're in a good position for your fitness to be built up in training and your future career. I can only speak from experience as a Regular, but in training you won't be expected to be the finished article when you start training. It's good that you're confident that you have a good base fitness, and I'd just recommend keeping up with whatever fitness regime you have and try to improve within your own limitations before Phase 1 training.
