Thanks for your question.
Please can you clarify what you mean by "on contract". All soldiers join for a minimum of 4 years and are able to terminate there service in the 3rd year and serve a further 1 year before being discharged.
The army deploys all over the world on operations, exercises and adventure training. For example, some of my colleagues have been to the USA and walked the Grand Canyon. The travel opportunities are not limited to Europe.
