The pay will vary depend on job role, rank and time served etc.

There are various different variables to the answer. There is also an annual bounty (free lump sum) on completion of your minimum annual days, currently 27 I believe.

What job in the reserves are you looking at? As already stated, there is a huge number of jobs available all of which come with a variety of pay levels.

Hi Dan. The information from the British Army Website is as follows;

"As a Reservist soldier, you'll be paid a day rate which is in line with Regular soldier pay. You can also earn a 'bounty' which is a tax free sum, and there are financial packages available to some people looking to join the Army Reserve. You'll also be enrolled into the Armed Forces Pension Scheme.


It's not just about the money, you'll learn soldiering skills, but you'll also get the chance to develop more specialist skills - these could lead to gaining extra qualifications which will count outside the Army too."

I'm going into my second year of college in September and will be studying science and criminology. What qualifications do i need to become an army medic. I've been wanting to do it for years but never knew how to go about it.

Can you join if you are transgender because i know there is a lot of wrong information going round. I am biologically female but have lived as male for the past 4 years and am really interested in becoming an army medic. Would this be possible or is it a topic for discussion?

Thanks for your questions.

To answer the first part of your question, to be a Combat Medical Technician you require GCSE Grade A*–C/9-4 in at least English Language and Maths. You will also be required to complete the Soldier Conditioning Review (fitness test) with a Mid Thigh Pull with 46kg, a Medicine Ball Throw out to 3.1m, and a
2km run in at least 11m 15s (11m 30s for Junior Entry).

To answer your second question about transgender; yes, you can absolutely join any Corps or Regiment as a transgender individual. The Army welcomes transgender personnel and all who apply to join the Army must meet the same mental and physical entry standard as any other candidate. If you have completed transition you will be treated as an individual of your affirmed gender.
