James A.
Reconnaissance Platoon soldier
Thanks for your question.
From the top once you have ‘Applied’ and passed the online medical questionnaire.
Nationality - check the army website for further details on residency and nationality
Medical - you must meet the medical standards, the British Army is selective as we only want the best.
Fitness - to join combat, you must pass the standards below
Mid Thigh Pull 76kg
Medicine Ball Throw 3.1m
2km run 10m 15s or it joining at a Junior soldier, this is 11m 15s
Once you have achieved the above, you will proceed to the Assessment centre stage where you will be tested on various things. All of the above plus Literacy, Numeracy, Team Work skills. An Army Cognitive Test, this will become more apparent once you have had your army brief at your local armed forces careers office.
Hope this helps!
