Thank you for the question. So, in the context of Army Aviation the Short Service Commission is 12 years, however the minimum return of service for an Aviation Support Officer (ASO) in the Army Air Corps is 3 years. For an Army Air Corps Officer pilot it is a minimum of 6 years return of service from the completion of Conversion To Type (CTT) course; though the individual will agree and sign to say they've understood this on the CTT course induction. The CTT course is essentially further and progressive pilot training; it will take a basically qualified pilot and convert and qualify them to fly a specific aircraft type. The aircraft type will also dictate the CTT course duration.
