Hello and thank you for your question.
Transfering as a reservist to the regular forces happens often. The basic answer to this question is yes.
I would caveat my response and add that there are a few factors that you may wish to investigate and/or consider such as personal circumstances, time taken to train as a soldier (differs as a reservist), time available to commit as a reservist and potentially the return of service as a reservist?
More information or detail is readily available by talking to an armed forces careers advisors at your local Army Careers Office (ACO) or alternatively search 'Army Jobs'.

Hope this helps.

Thanks and how long would the Duty of Service be in Reserves before I can transfer into Regular army?

There is no time limit or return of service before becoming a Regular Soldier. However, if an individual hasn't completed training as a reservist (for example) then they may have to start basic training or trade training again depending at what stage they are at...?
Hope that makes sense?

Hi there,
Thanks for your question and it’s great to hear you want to get stuck in to Army training.
As Stuart has said transferring from the Reserves to the Regular Army is absolutely doable and happens frequently.
It may be a good idea to sign up to a Reserve Unit now to see how you enjoy it. The bonus will be you’ll get some extra income, make some friends, and get some great experience. If you then decide at the end of your year or so that you want to join the Regular Army, start the application. Depending on your experience and trade you may be able to transfer over and miss out some training, but as Stuart says, you may have to start Regular training from the beginning.
Please don’t let that put you off though; the Regular training is designed to make you a better soldier, and you may feel that having completed it would help you manage other soldiers under your command as you become more Senior as you can relate to what they’ve been through.
If you have any other questions please let us know.
Katie
