Hi there, Thanks for your question. The main function of the British Army is to protect the United Kingdom’s interests at home and abroad, providing a safe and secure environment in which all British citizens can live and prosper. In addition to this the British Army supports tasks around the world building the capacity of other nations, particularly training their security and defence forces. In Africa the British Army has recently assisted with operations against terrorism, the illegal wildlife trade, violations of human rights and emerging humanitarian crises. Support to these types of operations rotated throughout the Army so that different units will get the opportunity to deploy. There are always lots of opportunities to deploy and support worthwhile causes. I hope this answers your question. Katie

Thanks for the question. To add to the above, yes they do cover anti poaching. Operation CORDED A team was sent to Malawi in 2018 made up of soldiers from various regiments and attached arms. They provided training and support for an anti poaching team and assisted them on patrols. The task lasted around 6 months Check out google, there is more information there on it. Hope this helps J
