Hi,
So Drivers still carry rifles on exercise and operations and everyone is a soldier first and foremost, if they are in a situation where they need to use their weapons then they would do so. But Drivers are part of the logistical chain, not front line.
Their role is vital to the movement of equipment and personnel, they may be in tactical situations at times, they are well trained to handle any given situation, this is why we go on exercise to prepare for any operations.
