STA Patrols - Special Observer
Yes 4/73 (Sphinx) Special Observation Post Battery does accept soldiers directly from AFC Harrogate. Once soldiers have completed their respective Phase 2 trade training after AFC Harrogate, they are eligible to attend the 13 week Surveillance & Reconnaissance Patrols Course (SRPC). Upon successful completion of the SRPC, soldiers will serve within the Battery as a Special Observer. Royal Artillery soldiers, upon completing Phase 1 & 2 training at the Royal School of Artillery (RSA Larkhill) can apply to join the Battery directly and will be loaded on to the SRPC. More details on the SRPC can be requested through [email protected]. Special Observers annually have to complete the SCR and RFT(S) once in the Battery. In regards to swimming, STA Patrol soldiers have to be proficient swimmers and pass the Basic Combat Swim Test. Swim training can and will be provided for those aspiring to serve with the Battery.
