Dawson,
Jason is currently away at the moment but I can answer this one for him. groundcrew are responsible for the handling of helicopters on the ground, from refuelling, aircraft starts shutdowns and moves, Forward arming points outside the wire to underslung load operations. Its a very varied job role and you can expect to be doing something different every day.
In my 9 years as a groundcrew soldier I have been all over the world on exercises and operational tours, I have spent many many hours flying on various aircraft from C17 to chinook. I started my career working with Apache and went on to be a Lading point commander in charge of underslung load operations for a variety of aircraft all over the world (this involves a lot of flying). In terms of being a good experience I think that speaks for itself, very unique, challenging at times but thoroughly enjoyable, an experience that will stay with me for the rest of my life.
Hope this helps.
