There will be opportunities that come your way, which at first may not sound great, however, if you volunteer for those you will be rewarded. I volunteered to go to Kosovo for 6 weeks, in return I was picked to go skiing for a week in Italy, all paid for by the Army. I loved both experiences and have never regretted that decision.

What do you like about your job and the company?

One of the main reasons I wanted to join the Army was to be able to travel the world whist getting paid to do so. I have travelled to a number of countries that I would never have been to without the Army, from Belgium to Oman, to Kosovo and Italy. I’ve also managed to go away and Ski, Snorkel, Rock climb and Kayak.

Only an individual who has completed the 14 weeks of training can understand what standing on a parade square, feels like. You are stood on a square with people you didn’t know 14 weeks ago, who you have spent every second, of everyday with, who are now your mates, in front of your family and friends.

The best advice i was given while on the train to pirbright was when you get to the station , give your service number in two groups of 4. Try get your Cat B driving licence before you start training, this will just help you move about easier in the early days you will have alot kit, also when you get to Phase 2 and 3 training you will be fast tracked to HGV etc. driving cost money so you will be hanging around waiting for it easier if you do it yourself be proactive. Fitness is a big part of army life so goto the Gym do some sort of basic rountine even if its walking around the block get the pulse rate going, Again it will just make service life so much easier if you fit.

Personally joining the Army was a great decision. Its given me that stable career everybody wants. The opportunities within the Army are second to none whether it be from gaining qualifications in your chosen field to travelling the world doing various activities. If you give the Army your everything the Army will give you everything. As cliche as it sounds the army really does give you friends for life. You are all equally motivate and go through the same experiences which bonds you more than anything else in life.
