The short answer is yes.

Once you have given your minimum time to the artillery, you can then put transfer papers in to the royal engineers providing you meet the criteria.

What is the minimum time, out of curiosity?

Sam, the minimum time will be 3/4 years. This is called a return of service.

Hi Sam,

As J says, most Regiments will try to support a request to transfer after the return of service period. It cannot always be guaranteed though as you the unit or role you desire may not require people. It is always best to try and join the Regiment which you think will suit you best from the get go so try to learn as much as you can before you apply.

Transferring is also likely to effect your career progression as you’ll be learning a new trade from scratch.

Good luck with your application.
