Bethany, good morning and thank you for your question.
Yes women are now deplorable in all frontline roles. Previously, women deployed on attached arms roles as combat medical technicians, signallers or royal military police. Now, women are deplorable in frontline infantry roles.
Since recruitment opened for female in all roles, the welsh guards alone have had 2 successful candidates and are now fully trained in battalion.
Are you currently in the process of applying?

Hi Bethany,
Thanks for your question. I see you have asked us a lot of questions over the last few days, that’s great to see. Have you started your application to join?
As J says above, all roles are now open to women within the British Army so you can apply to join any Corps or Regiment you wish.
Whether you are deployed will have nothing to do with your sex, and everything to do with your trade. I have deployed on the ‘front line’ many times. If you want to be on the front line in combat then look into the Infantry or the Armoured Corps, or as a specialist like a Medic, Artillery observer or combat engineer. If you want to support those on the front line look into things in the Combat Support, Combat Service Support Or Command Support areas. And if you really don’t think being close to the front line is for you, but still want to deploy on operations, have a look at roles based more on supply or administration.
I hope this helps.

I have wanted to join ever since being very young however I was knocked over when I was 16 and broke my fibia and tibia which only causes problems in the cold, can I still join? also physically I am a little fit but that is what is putting me off that I would fail the test. If you do fail would they help you pass or would that just be a no you failed kind of scenario?
Thankyou

Hi Katie,
Thanks for your question.
I am afraid we’re not able to answer personal medical questions here as only the qualified Doctor conducting your medical, with access to all your notes and history, would be able to make a fair assessment. Having previously broken bones does not preclude from joining in itself, but the Doctor would need to assess any lasting impacts.
With regards to failing any fitness during training, although it won’t always feel like it, your training staff want you to pass training! They will do everything they can to get you trained up to pass. What you must do though is arrive at training well prepared and have already worked on your fitness to make sure you are at a good standard. Then during your training make sure you give it your all and push yourself as hard as you can to make sure you achieve what you are capable of!
Good luck with your application.
Katie
