Hello Emily and thank you for your question.
99% of the people that choose to become and Infantry Officer have no soldiering experience at all.
That is why you do a full year at Sandhurst, learning to become an Officer, then another 6 months at Brecon, leaning how to be an Infantry Officer.
To answer the second part of your question, it is still early days for females to be at the front line but there are a lot of women that have joined the Infantry as Officers and Soldiers and even some women that have transferred in from other places of the British Army.
I hope this helps answer your question and if you have any more, please ask.
-Danny.
