do the royal engineers see frontline combat?
Additional information
i have used the a2 rifle at cadets doing section attacks and i really enjoyed it, although i am still looking to pursue a career in the royal engineers instead of the infantry. would i get the chance to experience frontline combat myself given that the situation would allow it.

We have a saying in the army 'soldier first' - everyone is trained to be an infantry soldier at the lowest level before anything else - including officers. It's what you learn in basic training and at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Once you finish basic training that's when you specialise; those that join the infantry will further hone the skills and learn lots more infantry skills whilst those that join anywhere else learn other skills relevant to their job trade. As with any capbadge anyone serving could see frontline action.
