Intelligence Corps - What can I expect from a role in MI and TI?

As an OPMI or an OPTI you will have an exiting and varied career. As an OPMI you can expect to work in a number of specialisms, Including, but not limited to, Counter Intelligence, Human Intelligence and Operational Intelligence. You can expect to work at all levels of the command structure, from infantry companies all the way up to providing support at an operational level. As an OPTI your career will be spent mainly in the Signals Intelligence field. You may also have opportunities to specialise in languages and cyber. You will work closely with EW operators of the Royal Signals as an OPTI. Both roles are highly deployable and you can expect to either go on or support operations in your first few years of service. Unfortunately I cannot comment on cyber, however for linguist you must pass a Modern Language Aptitude Test while at our selection!

Kamil, You will be assessed for suitability as a linguist during Intelligence Corps selection. If you pass you can elect to become a linguist. For cyber security you can get assigned to a cyber security section if you have the choice on your posting proforma, you will then train to be a cyber security specialist.

Though it's not always guaranteed you will get an assignment for cyber security. The roles are very competitive and highly sought after.

I see, I understand that people are selected based on their performance during assessment/training?

Also, does age affect the possibilities of being selected?

So we run a 3 day selection, this will decide on if you make it into the Corps. The upper age is 36 years.
