For someone that’s considering to transfer to tss, what extra info can you give me? Want to go to wattisham if I can?

Good Afternoon
You would need to apply through your Regimental Careers Management Officer RCMO to transfer and come to MOD Lyneham for an assessment day ;which would include physical assessment, maths test and interview. If you are internally transferring within the REME the process is slightly easier as you may only need to do the interview. If you can give me a bit of background I would be able to offer some more specific advice.

Hello cheers for the reply, currently infantry Lance corporal. Reason I’d want to go to wattisham as it’s closer to home which is a big plus however what are the chances of me actually getting that certain posting?

I genuinely can't answer that as postings are done on the needs at the time. There are LCpl jobs available in 7Bn but you would be made an offer by records on the needs at the time of your offer. Plus there would be subsequent postings after that as in the REME we tend to move every 2-3 years. We have 7Bn Reme and Workshops attached to 3 & 4 Regt AAC in Wattisham.

Roger, I understand that it would be on a needs at the time posting, I’m certain that’s something I can check before handing in a transfer request. In terms of moving every 2-3 years is that a definite? As I already have a house bought and looking for something more long term

No its not definite but highly likely. You might be able to get two posts on the bounce if you are lucky, but TSS is predominately a Land environment trade. 70% of the REME strength currently sits in, or near Tidworth.
