Or after how many years can you move out of the barracks? Ive got a dog and my own place, dont wanna be in the Barracks forever, would rather drive. Also what are the hours, like working hours? Also what are the start and finishing times. Also can you choose where you work? Can you work close to a city or within a city or are all bases in the middle of nowhere

Hi, it's a common misconception that if you are in the army you live on camp. Whilst in basic training (both as an officer and soldier) you have to live on camp but afterwards you can live wherever you want - as long as you can commute to work daily (usual working hours when not on exercise or operations are 8.30am-5pm and this includes time for the gym, sport etc). Many young soldiers live on camp as accommodation is provided at a fraction of the cost of renting a property and the ease of living within seconds / minutes of walking into work but eventually most will end up moving out of the single living accommodation.
There is some choice of where you are posted but not always and depends on which capbadge you decide to join. For example most of the Royal Artillery will stay around Salisbury Plain as the majority of Artillery units are there now.
Ultimately being part of Army is 24/7 as you could end up on the other side of the world for 6mths or you could be on exercise or end up helping out in times of flooding, fire fighter strikes etc however the majority of time is like 'normal' work. I hope that helps.
