Additional information

Are you able to live in a privately owned/rented property away from your barracks? If so, is this available immediately after passing out and how would you organise this? Are there any rules about living within a certain mileage/commute time from the barracks?

Once you are assigned to your first unit providing you are not deployed on an Exercise or Operations, you will be able to go home once you have completed your days work so long as it's within a reasonable commuting distance and has been agreed with your unit's Chain of Command, normally the Commanding Officer. The majority of single soldiers will live on barracks in single living accommodation and married personnel can choose to live with their family in Service families accommodation.
Hope this helps.
