Hi there,
Being able to swim is not a prerequisite to enlist in the British Army. There is a Military swim test completed during basic training and all non/weak swimmers will be identified early on and additional swimming lessons provided to ensure you are able to pass the test.
Maybe pop into your local pool and see what beginner lessons they offer as this could be a good stepping stone to build upon and swimming is also a great way to exercise.
Hope this helps
