I want to be an officer, but I am also obsessed with martial arts. Can I train the arts while training as an officer?
Additional information
I understand the training takes priority and this will be my focus. I am asking if there are clubs inside the base, or time in the evenings to travel nearby to train once duties are over?

Hi,
Every Army Regiment I have ever been to has a team for almost any sport you can think of. As stated during the initial stages of your training the Military Training will take precedence over anything, but there will still be opportunities to play sport. The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, which is where you will train to be an Officer has some of the best sporting facilities in the whole Army.
Most of the whole Army have what we call a sports afternoon on Wednesday afternoon's when on general routine on barracks. Basically we down tools for the afternoon and play a given sport. I have also done Martial Arts, as well as Power Lifting and more recently even E-Sports.
Hope this helps. And best of luck.

Appreciate the answer Rob. Are there any BJJ or boxing training sessions that occur on base or an opportunity to do so?

Hi Cameron, it would entirely depend on where you are based and what unit you'd be serving with. Whilst you were going through officer training boxing is massive at Sandhurst (big boxing competitions) and you have loads of extra boxing training - taken out of military training for small periods leading up to the main competition.
When you finish Sandhurst, and you know where you're posted you could look at places in the local area - once you have finished work, what you do outside of work is entirely up to you! Less for exercises, operations, training etc the army is like a 'normal' job so you can join clubs outside the military.
