Additional information

Im currently in my last year of Alevels and want to join as an officer but I also want to become a qualified electrician with the army. Is it possible to learn a trade as an officer ?

No. You cannot become a qualified electrician as an officer - you would have to join as a soldier / electrician in order to become a qualified electrician. Another option, if you want to join as an officer, is to get an electrical engineering degree (which could be done while as a serving officer) and then do the Professional Qualified Engineer course (specialising in electrical and mechanical engineering) to then become a chartered engineer but with and electrical focus.

Fundamentally it costs a lot of money and time to train people as either officers or as electricians and the Army cannot afford to train people as both.

Hope that helps.
