Autism and enlisting
Additional information
I've been holding off on getting a diagnosis as I have heavily suspected I could possibly be autistic though I'm worried getting a diagnosis could potentially affect my chancing of joining the army and perhaps a unit and I really don't want to be stuck behind a desk doing some kind of office job

You would need to meet a set criteria for each job specification autism is not something that affects job role. It would be up to the medical team to say if you will be compatible with service and they may require a diagnosis first depending on severity but this is not something that routinely stops people from joining.
The best advice for yourself would be to do your research into the job roles and what you qualify for and put in your application ASAP to then cover any medical issues that may arise. The medical always have the final say on anything on your medical records and they may deffer you for further investigations, this does not ban you from joining it just means they need more information before being able to make the decision.
