How much time on average are you deployed for training or on tour?

Hi Joe - It really depends. The Operational tour I was on was 6 months, however some are shorter and some are a bit longer. Op tours don't generally last any longer than 8 months, 6 is the usual length. If your tour is longer than 4 months you are entitled to "R&R" which is 2 weeks at home at some point during the Op which the Army pays for.
Exercises are always shorter, I was in Kenya for 7 weeks on exercise - however some exercises or shorter/longer.
I've been in the Army just over 5 years and during that time I've been away from home for around 16 months in total including an Op tour, exercises, adventure training etc.
