Additional information

Basically just want to get an idea of the differences between the both to see if it’s worth going for the paras and if the only difference is the airbourbe element, might be a stupid question to some but I’ll be having to make my decision soon, thanks in advance.

Jack, thanks for your question. Infantry training is infantry training, the difference being is that to be a para you have to complete a pre course before ITC and P company once you have complete your 26 weeks combat infantrymans course. The output test requirements throughout ITC are the same. As you have stated, yes the only difference being is the airborne element, they learn to parachute. However they haven’t jumped in to battle for a long time and probably never will again. With regards to being ‘elite’.. all career courses are done alongside other infantry units so the skills taught are exactly the same. They deploy on all the operations that other infantry units deploy on. 1 para are slightly different as they work alongside the elite special forces, if the Paras were all elite soldiers they would all be special forces. Not to say they aren’t a good regiment but they are infantry, with parachutes. J
