Reconnaissance Platoon soldier

Thanks for your question.

A guards officer is infantry but they would have chosen to commission through the military academy Sandhurst.

Essentially a guards officer does admin whilst in barracks such as planning, lessons etc and whilst in the field or on operations they will be involved with planning and decision making with commanders but won’t get involved in the fighting aspect.

Guardsman will will develop themselves as soldiers whilst in camp and in the field or on operations they will carry out the plan the commanders have come up with.

I hope this answers your question
