Tori C.
Regimental Medical Officer
Hello,
CMTs are primarily trained in battlefield first aid and will deploy with a group of soldiers.
HCAs also deploy, but usually as part of a team to both small and larger field hospitals. They work to support the rest of the clinical team.
CMTs and HCAs often work together and there is some overlap in their clinical skills.
The NHS also employs HCAs and therefore they can use their qualifications if they decide to leave the Army.
There is no direct equivalent of a CMT in the NHS and many of the skills they use in the Army they would not be able to use in the civilian world without doing additional qualifications.
More information on both roles can be found using the below links.
