Additional information

If an officer cadet is unsuccessful at gaining commission into an infantry regiment, would there be opportunities to re-apply for an officer position within the infantry?

It is usually up to the Regimental Chain of Command that decide if you are right for their Regiment. If they have rejected you, there is a very low chance that they will accept you on the second application.

Hi Jonathan, As you go through Sandhurst you will have the opportunity to look at a number of different Regiments and Corps, not just Infantry, before selecting your top 2 choices. You will then go to a selection board with these two choices. If you don't get a place in either you can apply to different Regiments and Corps through a clearing process. It's very similar to getting into University in that sense. There are 17 different Infantry Regiments in the British Army so you have plenty of choice and if you don't get into one during your first attempt at the selection board you can apply to one of the others through clearing. It can be a slightly confusing system so if you have any other questions please get in touch. -Sam
