Yes. Any relationship will go through struggles if you're away for longer periods of time. However, as with everything, you need to work at them. Deployments can either be the make or break of a relationship.

Your unit will try to support you as much as possible whilst deployed in terms of being able to communicate with your loved ones and also keeping them informed and providing support to them whilst you are deployed.
WHilst some relationships may suffer, others become stronger by working through more difficult times such as being apart during deployment.
If you do experience relationship difficulties there is welfare support within the unit. The Army Welfare Services and Army Families Federation and various other organisations are also available to provide support and guidance.
