Hi Hannah,
Thanks for your question.
The Royal Lancers are an armoured cavalry regiment who provide reconnaissance. Their role is to provide a continuous stream of timely, accurate information to commanders so they can make important tactical decisions. In addition to this they are trained to fight enemy combatants using a wide range of equipment, from Sharpshooter rifles and machine guns to mortars and anti-tank missiles.
They are mounted in a CVR(T) Scimitar, an armoured reconnaissance vehicle, and the Panther protected patrol vehicle.
The unit is based in Catterick, North Yorkshire and recruits from all over the UK.
The Regiment has a proud history and has a great reputation for being thoroughly professional. Their light, agile forces means they can be deployed quickly and they are therefore very reactive. If you want to keep abreast of what they’re up to why not follow them on Facebook or Twitter.
I hope this helps.
Katie
