Additional information

Is it uncommon for university graduates, looking to join the army, to join as regular infantry soldiers instead of applying via the officer route?

It does happen but the majority of applicants who go through university tend to apply whilst in the last stages of university to officer roles of roles that could benefit from the degree itself, for example - an engineering or IT degree. I have met infantry soldiers that have gone through university, some doing 1-2 years whilst others completing and graduating. I also know an officer who went through university, joining as a regular infantry soldier and gained a few years experience in the ranks before going on to Sandhurst and commissioning as an infantry officer J
