After completing your phase 1 and trade training, you then head off to your Regiment where you will complete military annual training tests which includes live firing ranges. Depending on how high you consistently score on ranges, you may be identified as a really good shot and be given the chance to become a sharp shooter in specific combat roles. Not much to add to the above but if you are a qualified sniper, you could find yourself as a number 2/spotted carrying a sharpshooter weapon system.
