How much notice do you get for deployment, and how long do they tend to last?

My fiancée and I are worried we wouldn’t be able to have contact or see each other. How long does deployment last and do you get time off to see family before being deployed?

Hi Dani,
So you will usually get a few months notice in the lead up to a deployment, which will give you a chance to get your life in order and get your pre-deployment training completed.
The usual deployment is 6 months long, and you will get 2 weeks leave during the tour where you are able to go back to the UK to see family and friends. You will usually get leave on return to the UK, usually 4 weeks.
I hope this helps,
Paul
