do the army take non-wind band instrumentalists?

Hi there, thanks for your question and hope you have had a great Christmas!
British Army Music employ professional musicians performing on all Woodwind, Brass, Percussion and String instruments, including piano. Guitarists, Vocalists and other instruments are also employed, but the individual will also be required to perform in a Wind or Brass band, or our String Orchestra.
For example, if you currently play the Guitar, you may be able to take an audition to join us on that instrument, but if successful would also need to be willing, and demonstrate the potential, to learn another instrument, eg. clarinet, that features in our one of our core ensembles (Wind Band, Brass Band or String Orchestra).
Perhaps you could let us know what instrument you play and we would be able to advise you further more specifically?
