What is a day in the life of a physiotherapist officer like?

Hi Amy, I have predominantly worked with physiotherapists in primary care centres or at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, so I can probably only answer this from those perspectives. Physios also work in regional rehabilitation centres. Some physiotherapy officers will live in the officers mess, and some will live in a married quarter or private accommodation. At DMRC you may work on a ward with inpatients, or you might work for a specialist team who run residential courses. Most weeks you will have your own patients to look after, and you will manage their care alongside the MDT (sports medicine consultants, ERIs, podiatrists, OTs etc..). You may also deliver teaching to groups of patients on a variety of topics. In a primary care centre you will have morning and afternoon clinics with patients. You will also be involved in the general day to day running of the medical centre (audit, QIP etc..) and triaging patient referrals. Generally speaking the military environment is well set up for taking lunch breaks and finishing work on time. Part of our role is to keep fit, so there will be time during the day for this, and access to a gym.
