Hi, throughout basic training (14 weeks) and Phase 2 training (length depends on the capbadge / trade you join) you pay a very nominal cost for food and accommodation c. £100 a month. After this you could choose to live in Single living accommodation (SLA) (the newer the 'block' the more expensive it is) or you could choose to live with your partner and child in army provided accomodation or wherever you live now if it's feasable. Army 'food' is now 'Pay as you dine' so you only pay for what you eat. As an example a 'core' lunch (small salad, main course and a yogurt) is around £2.50 and 'core' dinner (3 course) is around £4.20. Most people choose to eat b'fast in their block as there is usually a microwave/toaster etc. I hope that helps.
