Good Afternoon and thanks for your question.

You most certainly can! We pride ourselves on creating vast opportunities for people to participate in sports. That could be any sport even if it's something you've never tried before.

We usually run a sports afternoon once per week where you will be free to spend a good amount of time playing sports with your colleagues. This could be devoted to working as part of a team preparing to play in a competitive environment against other units, or it could just be for fun as something to with the friends you will have made!

This isn't limited to the standard sports such as football and rugby. Most units have a large amount of options and a lot of the time, these options are created by any soldier whom has an idea of something they'd like to try! If you liaise with your sports officer (someone in a dedicated position to arrange sports activities and competitions for your unit) after you've completed your basic and your phase 2 training, then they would be more than happy with supporting you however possible in achieving your sporting dreams.

Martial arts itself is also getting bigger and bigger in the army, with a huge following behind it. Some of the top quality coaches within the army will help you to improve and even potentially compete up to an international scale!

Overall, the army's stance on sports and adventurous training is not something to dismiss whatsoever. The coaches, facilities and opportunities that you will have at your disposal on a regular basis are quite frankly incredible, and i hope you are also able to make the most of them if you choose to create a career in the British Army.

I hope this helps and best of luck for the future.
