Some regiments do ceremonial duties less than others. Can you choose to join the regiments that do less guard duties?

When considering your career, you should base it on the whole piece. GUARDS battalions do much more than ceremonial duties, there are also units outside of the GUARDS that conduct ceremonial duties when asked. the short answer is yes, it is your choice.
