Additional information

I'm currently 17 and plan on applying to become a Guardsmen when I'm 18. However, my parents aren't supportive of me joining the army, and ties will most likely be cut, however, I know it's what I want to do. How much support is there for someone in this situation?

I'm really sorry to hear about your situation, but I think it is great that you know exactly what you want to do and will still pursue that career. Throughout your entire military career you will have access to welfare support, both through your chain of command and externally. Once you turn 18, your parents will not play a part in your application process, and so you can apply without their consent. I hope this answers your question.
