Robbie, thanks for your question.

As driving is a key part of your chosen role, you will go to the defence school of transport to complete your relevant driving qualifications throughout phase 2.

Ring your local armed forces careers office and enquire about housing, you will have to complete phase 1&2 training first. If I were to guess, you would apply once at your unit

Hope this answers your question

Robbie,

All Recovery Mechanics will complete Driver Training (B, C, C+E) at Lyneham prior to commencing the technical aspects of their trade training. H Cat (Tracked licence) will only be covered if you are being assigned to an Armoured unit.

In regards to your SFA; Phase 2 soldiers are allowed SFA providing their training is longer than 6mths. The Recovery Mechanic course is 35wks so you would be eligible for SFA providing you meet the remaining eligibility criteria. Your Welfare Team at Ph1 Training would confirm this for you.
