Hi, I am a 24 y/o studying my masters in law. I have a nice corporate job but I feel unfulfilled; is the army for me?

I am a fit young guy who likes adventure, but I am unsure my qualifications (a BSc and MA in Political Science and Law) are of value to the military.

Hi Bill,
Thank you for your question.
The Army could very well be for you and there are two options which you could consider:
First, if you want to step away from Law you could join the Army in any role you chose. Your level of education and life experience will be of benefit to the Army, we often find it doesn’t really matter what people studied.
Second, if you are a qualified barrister or solicitor you could join as a Professionally Qualified Officer. As a Legal Officer you'd spend 9 months training before going to your first legal role. During your first two weeks, you'll conduct your initial training and administration at the Directorate of Army Legal Services. You will then attend the Professionally Qualified Officers' Course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. You'll learn basic military skills, study tactics and take on a range of tasks designed to develop your ability to lead and command. You will then head back to the Directorate of Army Legal Services for your specialist legal training, which will take approximately 6 weeks to complete. You will learn all about the areas of law that you will need as a Legal Officer, including military law, the law of armed conflict, international humanitarian law and intelligence law. You will then spend three months with a combat or combat support unit, learning about the Army and getting experience of life as a junior officer, all from a non-legal perspective. This is a key part of the training and gives you the chance to learn about the organisation to which you will be giving advice.
The Army really is an amazing career, there is so much opportunity, both in terms of career progression but also for experiences and adventure.
I hope this gives you some things to think about, but if you want to know more please don’t hesitate to ask.
