Are intelligence officers taught languages to a high degree of fluency?
Additional information
I’ve always loved learning new things, especially languages. At the moment , I’m trying to teach myself french. I currently have some level of understanding and plan to keep on learning it through uni whilst focusing on my actual degree after i finish my A-levels, but I do wonder if the languages are taught to a high level of fluency or if they’re just taught to what would be A-level standard? (Sorry if I worded this a bit off and came off a little rude) My mother is multi-lingual but I was never able to learn any of the languages, and I’m REALLY eager to become fluent in multiple languages apart from English 😂

Anyone in the Army can learn a language and it's very much encouraged. Language learning is different from school / uni as it's focused on military speak too and also on fluency to speak and understand moreso than the written - especially in certain languages. On joining the army, regardless of whether you have a language qualification already, you will do the MLAT (Modern Language Aptitude Test) and your test result is recorded as it's important prior to being loaded on a language course. Languages courses in the army can range from online, full time at the Defence Language school or in country. I hope this helps.
