Regardless of the pandemic, from application to getting to basic training takes about 6-8 mths on average. People have done it in 3mths and others have taken 18+ months. It depends on a number of factors, some you have influence on (getting everything filled in and sent off on time, passing selection first time) and others you don't (time taken for medical selection/assessment, whether there's places in the part (trade) of the army you're interested in joining).
