Hi there,

What sport are you interested in? Just to try and steer you in a better direction.

However, regardless of which cap badge you join, there are plenty of sporting opportunities available to you in the army, from casual unit-level (e.g. playing for your regiment football team), all the way up to representing your country at the Olympics (e.g. Karriss Artingstall and boxing). There are even schemes in place, such as the Army Elite Sport Programme (AESP) that allow you to become a full-time athlete if you are exceptionally talented in your sport.

One of the reasons I joined the army was to play sport at a high level, so just to give you an idea of life in my cap badge (Army Air Corps); I am currently captain of the RE Corps football team, play army development-level football, as well as basketball and the odd bit of rugby for the AAC. I am in the process of becoming a level 1 football coach, and plan to complete my football referee qualifications in the near future too, all paid for or subsidised through the military.

It is important to note that getting away for sport is a privilege and your work ultimately comes first.

Hope that helps!
