During basic training, is there any flexibility about what weekend(s) you are off duty?

I've read in other FAQs that once you've done five or six weeks of basic training you're allowed to leave the army compound for a weekend. I was wondering do you have any choice over which weekend this is. My best friend is getting married and I really want to be in the army without missing it.

Good morning, thanks for your question. It really depends but in Basic Training you can generally assume that your weekends wont be free. It will also depend if your going through Harrogate or Pirbright as they have different training programmes. Hope that helps and good luck!
