I want to join but also want to get on the property ladder, is this possible once you join your regiment after training?

Yes, this is entirely possible. The Army have a Forces Help to Buy (FHTB) scheme that will provide a loan for you to use to fund a house deposit. This is paid back at a low interest rate directly from your wages.
