Recruiting Co-Ordinator at ACC Norwich

Hi Liam, Thanks for your question. Following your Phase 2 training at Bovington, you will then start your riding course in Windsor (Khaki Ride). This will teach you how to maintain tack, look after a horse and how to ride among many other things. People begin this training having had a range of experience, or having had no experience at all, so do not worry if you are unsure. You will also be loaded onto a BHS Qualification in Horse care apprenticeship that can be completed whilst doing your day-to-day job. After completing this, you will move to Knightsbridge in Central London to begin Kit Ride. This is essentially a 4 week course learning how to clean all of the state ceremonial uniform for horse and rider, as well as putting the skills you have learned previously with how to ride to the test, in learning to ride wearing this uniform. It is an arduous course but very rewarding. It all culminates in an incredible pass off parade for which your family and friends will be invited to attend and see you finish your training as a fully qualified member of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment. From here, the minimum posting is anywhere from 18 months onwards. Once you've been in post for this amount of time, you will be given an option to move to the armoured side of the regiment based in Bulford (Wiltshire). Before this you will be sent back to Bovington to complete your Driving and Maintenance course, which is essentially learning to drive and maintain the Armoured Fighting Vehicles we use. Once this is done, you can then choose to stay with the armoured regiment, or jump back and forth between the two every couple of years, which can offer a wide range of experiences and opportunities. Hope that answers your question. If you have anything else don't hesitate to ask.
